This might be a silly question, but I wanted some clarification. In the “Apply for 2023-2024 Duke Graduate School Fellowships" webpage there is a tab for "Fellowships for Fall 2022 Application Period" and a "Fellowships for Spring 2023 Application Period". What is the difference between both? Do we need to look at a specific one for academic funding for the entire 2023-2024 academic period?

In applying for a Bass Instructor of Record Fellowship, how important is it that a class “needs" to be taught? Like a major or course which is always taught vs. an elective (which has also had a track record of student enrollment) which does not necessarily "need" to be taught.
