Zoom for Instructors 3 - Shared screen with speaker view
Hi everyone, this is where you can type in questions.
Chat is now working :-)
so it is. Thanks
Do you have an external camera?
Excellent demonstration. One question, any suggestions on maintaining audio level when you are at a distance demonstrating the full body?
What view do you use to watch students?
Regarding audio level, because my studio is quiet, participants haven’t indicated they have trouble hearing me when I’m demonstrating. I don’t change the level.
A photo showing his set up would be helpful.
Are presenters aware of the fact that they can set their video to show themselves straightforward or as a mirror image? Go to video/settings/mirror image.
For people who don’t have green screens, what are thoughts about using virtual backgrounds?
You can use a wireless or wired mic clipped to you.
can you bring up students 2 at a time
Can the screen be split …I would want the students see a performer and read the sheet music at the same time… Is that possible?
There’s a new beta program that builds on Zoom called mmhmm and gives a lot more flexibility for speakers, graphics, and placement of images. Something to keep in mind for the future.
What role takes attendance?
Robert - OLLI staff in most classes.
Will the tech support person remain in the class the entire time in case there is a technical problem?
How would we request a moderator if we think we might need one?
Where can we find the links to the recordings of this and prior training sessions?
The links to the recordings will be sent to all instructors and links will be posted on the web too. Howard will repeat that
Shana - I will talk a little more about moderators
Will a cd player placed next to the laptop cause an audio problem?
So can the moderator be a class participant as well?
Moderators attend at no cost.
When is the equipment list going to be shared with instructors?
Howard will cover where to find Betina’s recommenced equipment list
Can we give permission for students t share their screen—writing, for instance?
Paul - in general we do not students to share their screen, but there may be exceptions.
typso: We do not want students to share their screen
THere’s a link under “view options” at the top bar when you’re screen sharing that allows us to go to a “side by side” mode and see both speaker to right and screen to left… isn’t that the split screen that was asked about earlier?
Thanks Jay - let’s cycle back to the split screen feature
Make sure you don't have any private websites ( financial, private photos.... or other sensitive information on your desk top so you don't inadvertently share a site that is embarrassing etc.
Or share the writing in the Chat
Will you be explaining how to use OLLI's zoom account?
Will we cover breakout rooms
Maria - there is a special session on breakout rooms.
No contracts on ZOom. You can terminate your account at any time.
Thank you Beth
I’m apprehensive no longer. Thanks for all the details and planning.
I think it is a good idea to break it up- questions can be related to presented info
Howard makes all of this look easy. It is critical that you practice using Zoom. It is challenging to talk to your laptop in your living room for 60-75 minutes.
Susan Wartell - OLLI Staff will open the Zoom Call....You will join from a link. Members will access the Zoom links from their student portal.
I have to go, thank you for a great presentation. Very informative.
