When people first learn about digital accessibility (the process of ensuring people with disabilities can access technology), they view the guidelines as new requirements and assistive technologies as new innovations. In reality, accessibility and technology adjustments are decades old and we’ve simply not been taught to consider disability — in our digital production or broader society. This is due to a societal ill called “ableism”.
This webinar will review the historical context of accessibility and ableism, then present practical strategies attendees can start today to break the cycle of misinformation and misunderstanding.
